Our local Song of the Week, “Do You Want Love?,” is the debut single from longtime Portland collaborator Dave Depper. After becoming the newest member of Death Cab For Cutie and working with notable musicians like The Fruit Bats, Menomena, Ray LaMontagne, Mirah and Anya Marina, he’s stepping out on his own and releasing his debut album Emotional Freedom Technique out June 9th on Tender Loving Empire. The track opens with ’80s-esque synth and is backed by a dance-y, rhythmic bassline and lighthearted bongos. Depper softly sings over shimmery keys and creates a euphoric tone that makes the seven minute song pass by ever so serenely.

Depper will be playing at Mississippi Studios 6/22. You can pre-order Emotional Freedom Technique here.
