Seattle SOTW: Tangerine – “Sunset”

Seattle band Tangerine takes the garage rock genre their hometown is known for and manages to successfully mesh it with upbeat, pop tones. The 3-piece band released their short and sweet EP Sugar Teeth back in February and it’s one that easily attracts multiple listens.

“Sunset” begins with an enticing bass-line that leads into buoyant guitar playing. The vocals are so fun and lighthearted that the song’s earnest lyrics are almost concealed by its playful delivery. The track is fully brought to life when all of its instrumentation comes together in a disarray of cheery distortion. It smoothly eases its way towards the end with softening vocals and drifting sounds.

Their newly released video for the song is masterfully directed and gives off an eerie tone similar to that of the film It Follows.
