Bay Area SOTW: Hot Lunch – “Killer Smile”

Hot Lunch

Hot Lunch make a serious fucking racket. The San Francisco-based four-piece has been working their ass off, making themselves known throughout The Bay and beyond. Their unique style of psychedelic hard rock is absolutely raw and infectious. There is so much manic energy behind their music, it’s damn near impossible to avoid getting swept up inside of it.

“Killer Smile” is a song that will refuse to escape your psyche. The track is soaking wet with the spit from frontman Eric Shea’s fiery mouth. The combination of fuzzy guitar and commanding vocals give the track a strikingly sinister energy. It sounds like if Jack White and Charles Moothart drank too much Wild Turkey and cut a record together. By the time the song reaches its climax and Shea is straight-up scream-singing, it’d be a miracle if your head is still on your shoulders.

The song is not new, first appearing on Hot Lunch’s self-titled debut LP released in 2013. However, the band has said on their Facebook page that they are working on new material.
